Welcome to the second part of My Top 5 Series, today I'll be writing about my top 5 Christian MC’s in the UK. How I ranked these guys is on how they've pioneered the scene and their technical ability in my opinion. Many Christians look down on the Christian urban scene which I think is wrong and ignorant, but if we cannot glorify God in rap or grime then maybe we shouldn't listen to Christian in soul, rock or jazz format, but hey what do I know? Like I said before and I'll say again the Spirit has to convict you on what music we must & can’t listen to, plus we must do things in moderation and protect our faith so with out further a do here are my top 5 MC's.

Hope Dealers

The controversial entry out of the Top 5 lol, the South London collective from Hornton Theath are more in the headlines for controversy then spreading the gospel, a lot of us may disagree with how they and their spiritual establishment (Who we all know but I will not name) worship God. We cannot deny how lyrically great they are from coming out of no where and leaving the UK gospel scene in a trail blaze in early 2015 and getting ratings from their pioneering peers such as A Star and Triple O, the group who have a distinctive drill, rap and urban sound to them, have carved a sub genre in the UK scene that they started off with gospel drill where it's been debated in Christianity and the music scene where fellow drill pioneers Smoke Boyz disagreed with them mixing drill and gospel. Hope Dealers old material is simply text book stuff and if you don't know them, but grew up on Kano, Lethal Bizzle, Wiley and recent guy's such as 6.7, Russ and Fredo you'll definitely love Hope Dealers I have lost love them with their recent antics but who are we to judge? But bar that their old material from Bethnal Green freestyle to Last Days is too legendary not to mess with if you love gospel grime.

Their Best Songs: Get Go, No Chemist and Aint On Nothing Freestyle

Their Best Album/ Project: HD Living

Jahaziel

He may have left the faith sadly and controversially a couple years back but the South London wordsmith was the embodiment of Christian rap in the UK, a true pioneer of the scene, the intelligent, free thinking potent rapper was one of the most breath taking, technical, rhyming rappers in the game. Who always gave us food for thought from talking about his porn addiction, to going all out in his Gospel Cypher for Rapzilla, rapping over Eminem’s 8 Mile Road instrumental. PLEASE YOU NEED TO CHECK THAT OUT THE BEST CHRISTIAN RAP FREESTYLE OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!! He was one of a kind and since he’s left the game we haven’t seen someone as lyrical as him.

Their Best Songs: Saved By Grace Ft TP, In My Neighborhood & Jesus Loves Me

Their Best Album/ Project: Ready To Live & Heads Up

Triple O

The East Londoner who grew up and rapped with grime heavy weights such as Tinchy Strider and Ruff Squad, is the most creative wordplay rapper in Christian rap, he's very similar to Big Sean who has mad word play and even better bars, and is an incredible story teller with a passion for the scene if we admired the late and great Cadet, then Triple O will be up your streak the MOBO award winner is very few consistent rappers in the game who wears his heart on his sleeve for the Lord.

Their Best Songs: Godzilla Freestyle, Teach Me How To Walk & To The Ends Ft Hope Dealers

Their Best Album/ Project: Zero Not Equal To One

A Star

As we near the countdown of my top 5 more and more legends will be popping up, and this guy here is the poster child of a living legend, his energy, his aura and flow is something out of this universe. The recently married Congolese rapper is the most engaging, lyrical barer in the game, that not many can out rap him, one of the most underrated and undercoated rapper in Christian rap who should have won more accolades in his long career. A Star get's better as his career goes from strength to strength from his album to freestyles, like Chipmunk, A Star never runs out of bars from his own 96 Bars Of Revenge & Black And Grey freestyle, Whose Side Are You On and Two Zero One Seven, he never fails to bring the heat and bars.

Their Best Songs: Two Zero One Seven, 180 Ft J Vessel & Two Zero One Eight

Their Best Album/ Project: Revolutionary

Guvna B

The most decorated rapper in the UK gospel scene, one of the most prolific artists in the UK gospel, and trust there's not many in this scene that stand’s out other than Guvna, I may have to call an ambulance as he's, if you could say single handily carried the game for over a decade, and no shade to his peers especially the other guy's I've mentioned they're all great, but they don't have the Ghanaian who grew up in East London's shine. From his first album Narrow Road a decade ago to his recent smash of a project Hands Are Made For Working, Guvna B has gone from strength to strength and breaking cylinders for other UK gospels artists in the industry. On his best day no one is out rapping with his various talent of flows and creative & outrageous bars. Where many have left or gone on to seek clout in their careers, Guvna has always been transparent and always put's God first and that's what made him a unique talent in the game today. Just as we'll never see another MJ in music, Messi or Ronaldo in football or even a Michel Jordan in basketball we'll never see another Guvna B in the gospel scene.

Their Best Songs: Everyday, Found Myself Ft Nick Brewer & Kingdom Skank

Their Best Album/ Project: Secret World & Scrapbook ll

Honorable Mentions: Jake, Rhema, Happi, Melvillous. Presha J, DDT, TP, Jay Dolph, Tru 2 Da Name, Faith Child, E Tizz, Dwayne Triup, Icie, Righteous & Commander

As this was a subjective blog, I wanted to give an insight of the gospel music I listen to and put other Christians on who are looking for good Christian music to listen to, when I was starting out in my faith I made the conscious decision to cut out a lot of secular music as I found out that most music glorifies the world and devil. And I know many believers have done this and struggle to find good and genuine Christian musical content. I would suggest that you search and check out the above artists mentioned. Spotify and Youtube are great apps to find so much Christian music as they've been very helpful in my walk.

Until next time guys, thanks for reading my blog if you have any queries about my blogs or want to know more about Christianity
