God's Jollof

 

“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33

God was in the kitchen, cooking the jollof rice and just takes the chicken out of the oven. With the plantain sweet and ripe cut up nicely. 28 year old, well built and dark Femi come's down into the kitchen lays the table and shouts "dinner's ready" Herds of people come down the stairs and all sit at the table Femi's mum say's "God this is really smelling nice" Femi gives two plates of jollof to his friend Finances. He gives a big plate to his family and friends, he gives a plate to his friend Career, he gives a plate to his other friend Gym/Health, he gives another plate to his girlfriend Shanisha, she kisses him on cheek and smiles with a grin on her face mellowing "thank you babes" He gives a plate to his friend Spotify, He gives another big bowl of jollof with an extra piece of chicken to his friend Mr Internet/Social Media. There's a little piece of rice in the pot, a small portion of plantain and the last piece of chicken, Femi looks at God while He reaches out His plate and looks at his own plate everyone looks at him. Femi takes the last piece of food and sits on the table in shame while eating his food. Spotify looks at him and shouts "Fam are you crazy? The Big G made it and you couldn't dish Man some food? You violated' Everyone looks at the table in disgust but carry on eating their food. God washes the plates and sighs "It's so sad I give people life, blessings and prosperity but yet I'm always last but never considered a priority" 

As this was a fictional story, this is how the world, society and Christian's treat God, I'll put my hand in the air and be honest that I've put God last place recently especially in this lockdown, how do we do this? By not putting God first place in our life, God is the alpha and the omega and He should be always be put first, not second, not 5th  or last place. We put God last by not serving Him instead of praying we are on Youtube or watching Netflix, instead of reading our Bible we are on our phone, instead of going to church we are sleeping or doing other things. We also put God in second gear when we give in to sin, the pleasures of this world and the temptations from the devil like Adam and Eve gave into eating from the forbidden tree. Genesis 2:4 - 3:24, even not tithing and giving offering shows we don't put God first but that's a topic for another blog. The jollof represents our life, Femi represent us as believers and his friends who he gave the rice to represents the priorities we give our life to. God want's us to serve him with our all and put Him as first priority and everything else second, as hard as it is in a generation of being busy and demanding it's not impossible. If God can give us life, a house, money and blessings the least we could is make Him a priority not an option.
